The top is flat with inlaid banding around the edges. The two tambour doors have narrow reeds, round metal knobs, and inlaid diamond-shaped keyhole surrounds; stringing outlines the edge pieces. Flanking the doors are reeded panels, with striped inlaid banding along the outer edges. Behind the tambours is a central cabinet door with an inlaid diamond escutcheon, flanked by eight pigeonholes with arched valances over four drawers, over three drawers; all the drawers have round metal knobs. The top of the lower case folds out to form the writing surface; the lid supports have cock-bead molding around the front edges and round metal knobs. The sides of both the upper and lower cases have brass bail carrying handles each on two round escutcheons. The front posts have bellflower inlay with a single three-piece flower with both a dark round drop and a light marquise-shaped drop; the stringing outline dips to meet the flower. The three drawers have cock-bead molding around the edges, a stringing outline with concave corners, original small oval keyhole surrounds, and original bail pulls on oval escutcheons. Inlaid banding borders the bottom front edge of the lower case. The therm legs have inlaid banding cuffs; the front legs also have a stringing outline."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"10/17/2017"},{"label":"Materials","value":"Mahogany; Satinwood; Unidentified wood; Pine; Brass; Unidentified metal"},{"label":"Style","value":["Federal"]},{"label":"Basis of Date","value":"Date range provided by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, 1975."},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1790 - D:00 M:00 Y:1805"},{"label":"Basis of Origin","value":"Place of origin identified as Boston by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, 1975.
