(58.4 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Mahogany and figured mahogany veneer chest of drawers with white pine as a secondary wood. The case top is made of a single board with overhanging edges at the front and sides terminating in an applied half-round molding. The top is attached with nails. A curved gallery is attached at the back with screws and glue. It has cyma curved corners with rounded elements at the top edges decorated with floral circular mounts. The case sides are panel framed with a recessed center board. The front edges are squared behind free turned columns with plain shafts and decorative rings at the top and bottom. The top drawer and case top stand proud of the rest of the case to accommodate the columns. The front of the case is almost entirely faced with figured mahogany veneer, which extends to the sides of the case on the bottom boards. There is veneer loss on the end of the bottom side board above the right foot. The case back is composed of three vertical boards nailed to the top and bottom of the case. The case bottom is composed of two boards also attached with nails. The case has an interior frame of pine boards into which the drawer supports are dovetailed. Two pine beams run vertically down all corners of the case interior and horizontally at the bottom edge of each drawer. The case has four turned feet that project out in the front below the columns. They are likely attached with mortise and tenon joints. The case retains its original locks, pulls and keyhole surrounds. The pulls are foliate rings surrounded with stylized insects.  The case has four drawers faced with horizontal mahogany veneer. The drawer sides are full height and secured with dovetail joints. The drawer bottoms are composed of a single board with grain running from side to side. They are chamfered and let into a groove at the front and sides and nailed to the underside of the drawer backs and fronts. The drawers rest on runners, which are attached to the pine interior frame. The top front rail is screwed into the case top. Three drawer dividers are mortise and tenoned to the interior pine frame as is the bottom front rail.
