(62.2 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"A Chippendale-style slant-front desk constructed of mahogany, with white pine secondary wood. The interior has two stepped tiers. The bottom tier is a row of three drawers. The top tier has a prospect door with an inset blocked front and fan carving at the top. The door opens onto two blocked drawers, and the entire compartment can be removed to reveal two hidden drawers. Flanking the door are document drawers with turned half columns with urn-and-flame finials. The drawers are flanked by four pigeonholes with scrolled dividers over two blocked drawers; these are flanked by four stacked drawers with inset blocked fronts topped by fan carving. The front of the case is blocked in three distinct sections; cock-bead molding edges the drawer openings. The four graduated drawers have bail pulls and elaborately shaped escutcheons; the pulls and escutcheons are replacements. Cove-and-quarter-round molding forms a narrow skirt; the central pendant is fan-carved.
