(42.5 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Federal-style card table constructed of mahogany, white pine, figured maple veneer, and an unidentified, light wood inlay. The rectangular top is made of two boards with notched corners. One board is fixed, while the other rests on top of the first board or opens up to rest on a swing leg. Two bands of light wood stringing outline the edges of the top. The top is attached to the frame with flat head screws set in screw pockets as well as glue blocks. The rectangular frame has rounded front corners. The back left corner of the frame is joined with dovetail construction; the rest of the frame appears to be constructed with mortise and tenon joints. The front of the frame has decorative inlay: a center oval panel of mahogany veneer with light wood stringing is set inside a rectangular, mahogany panel. Rectangular panels of figured, bird?ÇÖs eye, maple veneer flank the mahogany panels. On the other side of the legs, there is another section of figured, bird?ÇÖs eye, maple veneer. At the bottom of the different types of veneer, there is a band of dark wood stringing. Legs extend the length of the frame. A swing leg is attached to the frame with a knuckle joint. The swing leg is reinforced with screws. All legs are squared and tapering with a panel of figured inlay outlined by light wood stringing at the top of the leg where it is attached to the frame. Below the frame, the leg has a band of light wood stringing. At the bottom of the leg there is a horizontal band of dark wood inlay flanked by light wood stringing on the top and bottom. After this band of inlay, the leg tapers more dramatically to create a tapered foot. The front right leg appears to have been dislodged and repaired with new screws.
