(111.8 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Chippendale-style wardrobe or clothes press. The upper case has a broken scroll pediment outlined along the top edges with wide, serpentine molding. Urn and corkscrew finials are mounted on top of fluted, rectangular plinths at the front corners and on a shaped plinth that rises from the center of the pediment. The case has two paneled, arched doors, the outer vertical edges of which have fluted pilasters. The case interior has two carved fans just beneath the pediment; the fans are completely covered by the arches of the doors. The case has five graduated drawers. The drawers each have a shaped escutcheon and two bail pulls with back plates of the same design as the escutcheons. The top corners and top center edge of the uppermost drawer front extend forward to act as door stops. Immediately above the top corner extensions are applied ornaments that serve as the capitals of the fluted pilasters applied to the doors. Similar ornaments are applied just beneath the lower corners of the bottom-most drawer.    The lower case is blockfront with curved upper corners and four graduated drawers. The drawers each have a shaped escutcheon and two bail pulls with back plates of the same design as the escutcheons; the lower case hardware has a different design than the upper case hardware. Molding along the side and lower front edges of the case follows the profile of the blocking. There is a center drop pendent on the case skirt. The case rests on bracket feet.
