The paint treatment appears to be layered with areas of black and green with white under-painting showing through in areas of mild paint loss. The bottom of the seat also illustrates a red wash. The horizontal crest rail is subtly curved with ears that are carved into spirals. The arm rail is constructed of a continuous piece of bent wood. The seven back spindles continue through the arm rail and are mortised and tenoned into the crest rail. Each arm has a baluster-turned arm support and two spindles. The arm supports are tenoned through the seat. Arms terminate with carved "fingered" handholds with small spirals on the sides. The shaped saddle seat has a shallow cove that outlines the back section of the seat immediately in front of the spindles. Baluster turned legs are mortised and tenoned through the seat.
