The chair back has a flat profile. The crest is carved with organic forms, and doweled into the frame; it can be removed. Except for the crest and the bottom sections of the stiles, just above the seat, the entire back is upholstered. A rip in the fabric on the back surface of the chair reveals webbing and one of the boards composing the back frame. The rear stiles are turned. Between the upholstered back and the seat rail, they have ring and ball turnings. The seat is trapezoidal; it is upholstered over the rail, and trimmed with seven inch, bullion fringe. Mortise and tenon construction is visible from the underside of the seat. Joints have been reinforced with glue and nails. Corner blocks are screwed into the frame. The seat of the chair has sprung, tearing the dust cover away. The hourglass-shaped springs are tied with twine, and supported by a layer of jute webbing. The front legs are turned, baluster legs, terminating in brass castors. The rear legs have a stump profile.  Visible wood is coated with varnish. Catalogers were unable to examine the frame or details of construction under the upholstery. Textiles have torn and frayed, and show evidence of sun bleaching. The upholstered edges of the chair show evidence of missing or replaced trim; numerous holes with differently shaped upholstery tacks are visible, securing the remains of a brown, unidentified fabric.
