Straight-front desk with a rectangular case and section for a lower, exterior drawer. The top is constructed of two boards, one fixed and one that folds outward to reveal the writing surface. The case front has one exterior door and drawer. The door unfolds from the top to create the writing surface and to reveal three shallow drawers in a row. The writing surface is created from two doors that are frame and panel or bread board construction with a leather writing surface on top. These doors open with leather tabs. The front door opens to reveal a well that is separated into three different sections. The back well opens to reveal five, equally sized pigeon holes and a large well. When the case front is closed, the front of the case has book matched, mahogany veneer and a separate, lower drawer.    The case sides are constructed of three boards with squared front edges and mahogany veneer. The case back is constructed of one horizontal board that is attached with nails. The case bottom is above the exterior drawer, structurally integral to the piece and made with one board. The bottom is attached with glue blocks, some of which have been replaced.    Below the case bottom is another section, slightly wider than the main case, for the drawer. The lower drawer has horizontal mahogany veneer and two brass pulls. The drawer is constructed with full height drawer sides and one, horizontal bottom board. The top and bottom rails of the drawer are attached with mortise and tenon joints. Spiral-turned legs with four thin rings followed by one fat ring at the top and two rings at the bottom before a tapered cylinder above the brass castors. The legs are attached to the case with mortise and tenoned joints and the castors are screwed to the bottom of the legs.
