The top is flat with half-round molded edges with diamond checkered banding along the front edge. The two tambour doors have narrow reeds, round metal knobs, and inlaid kite-shaped ivory keyhole surrounds; satinwood banding borders the edge pieces. Flanking the doors are pilasters of satinwood veneer with light and dark stringing along the edges. Shallow ogee molding joins the upper and lower cases. The top of the lower case folds out to form the writing surface; the lid supports have cock-bead molding around the front edges and round metal pulls. The lower case has three graduated drawers, light and dark stringing with an arched top outlining the front posts, and an arched skirt on front and sides with diamond checkered banding along the bottom edge. The drawers have cock-bead molding around the edges, a light stringing outline with concave corners, inlaid kite-shaped ivory keyhole surrounds, and the original bail pulls on oval escutcheons. The therm legs are outlined with light and dark stringing with an arched top; a diamond checkered banding cuff borders the therm feet.
