The cornice consists of an astragal arch, molded and splayed, surmounted by ball-and-spire finials on plinths, one center and two at the front corners against a fretted gallery. The hood holds a glass door that conforms to the astragal shaping. When opened, the door reveals the dial, which has decoration in the spandrels. Roman numerals and pierced and scrolled minute and hour hands designate time. Winding holes flank a calendar aperture. Cove molding separates the hood from the trunk, which has a door outlined with molding with a shaped escutcheon on the left side. Carved pilasters flank the hinged door. Cove molding separates the trunk from the base. The front of the base has a shaped apron. The base sits on bracket feet."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"12/4/2018"},{"label":"Materials","value":"Mahogany; Unidentified metal"},{"label":"Style","value":["Federal"]},{"label":"Basis of Date","value":"Date range based on working dates of maker."},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1790 - D:00 M:00 Y:1820"},{"label":"Basis of Origin","value":"French worked in Boston."},{"label":"Place of Origin","value":"Boston, Massachusetts"},{"label":"Basis of Maker Attribution","value":"Assumed to be marked.
