(95.6 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Empire-style mahogany card table with white pine secondary wood. The table top is turtle shaped with bowed sides and rounded tapered, turret corners. The fixed half of the table is half of the turtle top, as is the movable half. There are overhanging edges on all sides. The table top is attached with screws. There are three rows of integral bead molding on all sides. The frame shape conforms to the fixed top. The front and sides are each laminated out of two boards. The outer boards are mahogany veneer and inner boards are pine. The gate leg is attached to the frame with the moving board hinged to a fixed board with a knuckle joint, so that there are three boards at the back with one running full-length and two half-width boards hinged in the middle. There are two boards on each side of the table, laminated in the same way. The table case is attached with glue blocks, screws, dovetails on the back left side and mortise and tenoned on the back right. There is a bead molding glued underneath the bottom board around the front and sides. There are half columns on the front edges which have acanthus leaves carvings. The columns are continuous with the front legs with the case sides mortise and tenoned to the columns. The four legs are tapered and reeded with a ring turning at the top and bottom and a smooth tapered turned integral foot. The rear legs have a flat carved rectangular block at the top and the decorative elements are narrower and lower down than the front legs, while the front legs have the previously mentioned downward facing acanthus leaves above the ring turning.
