The top of the chair back has a crest tablet, veneered, with double-ogee ends, carved in a foliate design, and a raised panel. From the crest is carved drapery and volute spandrels. The sloped stiles are molded on the edges and are continuous with the side rails of the seat frame. The front of the seat rail is molded.
