The stepped pediment at the top features a single, gilded egg-shaped finial. The dial door has a bell-shaped window exposing the dial face, with a knob on the left side. Roman numerals denote time on the clock face, which has minute and hour hands and a winding hole. The dial is inscribed: Inscribed on dial: [James South / Charlestown]. Cavetto molding surrounds the hood base.  The base section is veneered and outlined in string inlay.
