The upper bookcase has a molded broken scroll pediment with urn and corkscrew flame finials on either side and one in center above arched panel doors. The right-hand door is fitted with a lock and escutcheon. A single candleholder slides out from the center of the bookcase below the doors. The lower case has a fall lid that opens up into flat surface on which to write. The case has four graduated drawers. The uppermost drawer is flanked by lopers, each of which has a single knob. The lid and drawers each have a shaped escutcheon; the drawers each have two bail pulls with back plates of the same design as the escutcheons.
