The rear stiles of the sofa are joined to the seat rail and are continuous with the back legs. The back, seat and sides of the sofa covered in original beige upholstery. The arms of the sofa are exposed and are slightly curved, terminating in scrolled hand holds. The tops of the arms are molded. The urn-shaped, reeded arm supports are attached to the arms with mortise and tenon joints. The seat is framed with mortise and tenon construction. Evidence of glue blocks on the underside of the seat. The springs underneath the upholstery are tied. The seat upholstery is supported on burlap webbing and reinforced by flat iron strips, wrapped in textile. The three front legs are reeded and tapered. The top sections of the front corner legs are decorated with leaf-shaped carvings. The three back legs are sabre in shape. The central front leg and the central back leg are screwed to blocks that attach to a stretcher. There is a single stretcher located just under the central section of the seat.
