The case is square with vertical graining, on four turned legs with a stretcher shelf. The top of the case is hinged, with a locking mechanism, and unfolds to reveal compartments within the case. On the sides of the case are bail pulls. At the bottom is a drawer with beaded edges and with two lion-shaped escutcheons with ring pulls flanking a central keyhole. The corner blocks do not have the vertical graining as the case. Trimming the base is molding.
