The chair back consists of a molded crest rail with a foliate-carved tablet and cinched brackets, a center rail with a fleur-de-lis-inspired carving in a octagonal panel flanked by foliate-carved brackets, and a straight molded lower rail, all between reeded and molded side stiles that scroll backward at top and are continuous with the seat frame and front legs. The front seat rail is molded.
