The hood has a molded arch pediment with two turned and wooden, reeded ball-and-flame finials, a carved and shaped keystone at the center of the arch, free-standing fluted columns at the front corners, and a glazed door with an astragal top. Behind the hinged door, which has a small escutcheon and keyhole on the left side, is a composite brass dial with an applied chapter ring with Roman hour numerals and Arabic minute numerals, applied cast ornament in the spandrels and lunette, and a silent/strike selector in the lunette. Inside the chapter ring there is a seconds dial with a scalloped edge, a calendar aperture, winding holes, and an applied name plaque engraved with the maker's name. The base of the hood has cove molding.  The top and the base of the trunk has ogee molding. The trunk door has an ogee-shaped top and a brass escutcheon with a keyhole on the left side.
