Jardin was a French-born architect and brother of architect Nicholas Henri Jardin; both were called to Copenhagen in 1753 to finish work on the Marble Church. The lectures were, according to the title page, translated from French to Danish to German. The title page ends with the statement [in German] Begun in the year 1758 on the 8th of April, and finished in the year 1759 on the 24th of March.
