The top of the molded hood is flat with cavetto and ovolo molding. Two smooth, turned columns are positioned at the front, flanking the square, glazed door. Opening the door reveals a composite brass dial with an applied chapter ring, Roman numerals indicating hours and Arabic numerals indicating minutes, and a thin minute hand accompanied by a scrolled and pierced hour hand. Cast ornament decorates the spandrels. Inside the chapter ring is a seconds dial, a calendar aperture, and an applied nameplate engraved: [Gawen Brown Boston]. There is a small knob on the left side.  The top of the trunk has cavetto and ovolo molding. The trunk is decorated with figures and foliage of chinoiserie design. A keyhole and a bell-shape drop pull is on the left side of the trunk door, which, at top, has a central concave curve with two points and slopes.  The base has cyma-curved and ogee molding at the top. The base features a tablet with rounded corners depicting a pastoral scene with a figures and foliage. The bottom of the base has stepped molding and four bracket feet.
