Each back has a stylized and ornamented lyre splat with a veneered tablet above. Carved ornaments at the top of each stile separate each tablet along the continuous crest rail. Five-pointed stars are applied at the bottom of each interior stile along the lower rail. Scrolling arms extend from just beneath the tablet to the front corners of the seat. The settee is upholstered across the full width of the settee with fringe and tassels extending over the front rail. The settee has four legs; the front curule legs terminate in paw foot mounts and castors. Light-colored paint or decoration is applied to the front of each stile, the top surface of the arms, and the front surfaces of the front legs."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"10/29/2018"},{"label":"Materials","value":"Unidentified wood; Upholstery materials; Unidentified textile"},{"label":"Style","value":["Empire"]},{"label":"Basis of Date","value":"Date based on history of ownership."},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1815 - D:00 M:00 Y:1817"},{"label":"Basis of Origin","value":"Attributed to Boston by Brock Jobe, 2015."},{"label":"Place of Origin","value":"Boston, Massachusetts"},{"label":"Other Name","value":"Settee; Double-back settee; Loveseat; Courting chair"},{"label":"Object Type","value":["Settee"]},{"label":"Object Use","value":"Seating furniture"},{"label":"Category","value":"Furniture"},{"label":"Title","value":"Chair-back settee"},{"label":"Date Modified","value":"10/29/2018"}],"description":"Chair-back settee","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/8d0ecaa5-4f35-48dd-8e79-fd91be2cc8a0/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Chair-back settee","height":794,"width":1500,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/8d0ecaa5-4f35-48dd-8e79-fd91be2cc8a0/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/8d0ecaa5-4f35-48dd-8e79-fd91be2cc8a0","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":794,"width":1500},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/8d0ecaa5-4f35-48dd-8e79-fd91be2cc8a0/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/8d0ecaa5-4f35-48dd-8e79-fd91be2cc8a0/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/8d0ecaa5-4f35-48dd-8e79-fd91be2cc8a0/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/logo"}
