The square, curved back has a tall rectangular tablet set over a short curved splat. The vertical edges of the tablet have flattened arches at the center; the upper and lower vertical edges are inserted into the rear stiles. The short slat is also tenoned into the stiles. The turned stiles curve back from the seat. Flared finials are continuous with the stiles. Incised lines are cut into the tops of the stiles just above the top edge of the tablet. Bentwood arms curve forward from the stiles to the top of the seat frame. The trapezoidal, plywood seat frame is slightly curved along the rear edge. The opening of the seat frame is covered with a thin piece of plywood that is pierced in a decorative pattern. The plywood is attached to the top of the frame with tacks. The edges of the plywood roughly follow the outer profile of the seat frame and are set several inches from the edges of the frame. Ghosting on the seat frame indicates that the original covering over the opening in the seat frame was of a different shape. Evidence on the underside of the seat frame indicates that the original covering may have been cane. The stiles are screwed to the rear corners of the seat frame. The front legs are turned, taper from top to bottom, and curve outward at the foot. The legs are tenoned into the seat frame and reinforced with screws. There are ring turnings at the top of each front leg. The rear legs are continuous with the rear stiles, taper from the level of the seat to the foot, and curve outward at the foot. Thin, turned spindles support the legs as pairs of side and rear stretchers. A thicker spindle, with swelled centers and ring turnings, support the legs as a front stretcher; plugged round mortises suggest that there was once a second front stretcher. The stretchers are additionally reinforced with twisted wire, looped around the legs, creating an x-pattern. All four legs have a contemporary metal pad set into the underside of the foot.
