The daybed is joined with pinned, mortise and tenon joints at the support rails, and round mortise and tenon joints at the stretchers. The canted stiles are continuous with the square rear legs. The rear stiles are chamfered at the back edge. The back pivots on round tenons that extend from the rail at the bottom of the back splat and are mortised into the stiles. Braided rope attached to the rear stile passes through a hole in the ear of the crest to secure the back and allow it to fall to a recumbent position. The frame has a scalloped edge on the front and sides. Holes for an unknown purpose are located at regular intervals along the sides. Knee blocks are nailed to the frame. The slip seat rests on rabbets in the extended side rails of the seat and an applied support strip at the head of the bed. The slip seat is covered in rush, with a single side-to-side curved stretcher made of maple located on the underside at the head of the bed. The corners of the slip seat are made from two pieces of laminated mahogany. The second leg on the left has a small loss. The front left knee-block has been replaced.
