(85.7 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Mahogany, figured mahogany veneer, figured maple veneer, and ebony veneer Federal-style card table with white pine and ash as secondary woods. When fully open, the tabletop is rectangular with bowed side edges and squared corners. The top is composed of two rectangular leaves with curved front edges, each a single board, that swivel and open on a hollow frame. The top is attached to the frame on the left side with a long bolt that projects through the bottom of the frame, allowing it to swivel. Each leaf is edged with a different integral molding: the bottom leaf has a bead molding and beveled bottom edge while the top leaf (which unfolds) has a bead and half-round molding.    The table frame is rectangular, and the front is bowed with squared corners. It appears to be mortise and tenoned at the front corners and dovetailed at the rear corners. The bottom frame board has chamfered edges. A board runs horizontally across the center of the frame to accommodate the pedestal block, which is screwed into the frame from the inside. The block also has chamfered edges. The frame is faced with mahogany veneer, and the bowed front edge is decorated with three inlaid panels. Each panel consists of ebony stringing surrounding figured maple veneer. A lion?ÇÖs mask and ring mount is affixed to both squared front corners, and both may have been replaced. The pedestal consists of two flat pierced boards mortise and tenoned into the central block. The top of each pedestal board is carved and veneered with mahogany and ebony on the outer face to resemble a fluted column. Below, two symmetrical C-scrolls are carved and veneered. The base plinth is decorated with figured maple veneers surrounded by ebony stringing and mahogany banding on the top and all side four faces. The table has been refinished and all figured maple veneers have been stained dark. The table has four splayed serpentine legs projecting from the plinth, which are attached with iron brackets and possibly sliding dovetails or tenons.
