The upper case has a broken scroll pediment with complex molding along the top edge of the pediment. Rectangular plinths at the front corners and a shaped plinth that extends from the center front of the pediment indicate that the chest may have had finials. Below the cornice is a central tall drawer with a central arched recess; shorter drawers flank the central drawer. The lower edges of the three drawer fronts are in alignment. Below are four full width, graduated drawers.  Decorative molding outlines the front and sides of the lower case top. The lower case has a single short, full-width drawer over three side-by-side drawers. The center lower drawer has a central arched recess. The skirt of the lower case is shaped in three compressed arches. Four cabriole legs with ridges running up the backs of the legs support the lower case. The legs terminate in pad feet.  The full-width drawers have a central bat-wing escutcheon and two bail pulls on bat-wing escutcheons; the uppermost full-width drawer is missing its pulls. The drawers with arched recesses each have a central knob. The flanking drawers each have a single bail pull on a bat-wing escutcheon; the right drawer on the upper case is missing its pull. The case was once japanned, but almost no visible decoration remains. Ultraviolet examination reveals that the sides of the chest are painted with large daisies; winged cherub's heads flank the small central top drawer. The carved shells are enclosed between fluted columns entwined with foliage. Small patches of the original splotchy red and black background survive behind the original stamped hardware."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"1/18/2019"},{"label":"Basis of Materials","value":"Maple drawer fronts and legs; pine sides and drawer interiors."},{"label":"Materials","value":"Maple; Pine; Brass; Gilding"},{"label":"Style","value":["Queen Anne"]},{"label":"Basis of Date","value":"Dated about 1740 by DAPC staff."},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1730 - D:00 M:00 Y:1750"},{"label":"Basis of Origin","value":"Attributed to Boston by Brock Jobe, 2015."},{"label":"Place of Origin","value":"Boston, Massachusetts"},{"label":"Other Name","value":"Tallboy; Highboy; Case of drawers"},{"label":"Object Type","value":["Chest of drawers"]},{"label":"Object Use","value":"Case furniture"},{"label":"Category","value":"Furniture"},{"label":"Title","value":"High chest of drawers"},{"label":"Date Modified","value":"1/18/2019"}],"description":"High chest of drawers","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/88335c1f-bcc1-4825-927f-e075dcf2e5bb/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"High chest of drawers","height":1500,"width":858,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/88335c1f-bcc1-4825-927f-e075dcf2e5bb/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/88335c1f-bcc1-4825-927f-e075dcf2e5bb","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1500,"width":858},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/88335c1f-bcc1-4825-927f-e075dcf2e5bb/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/88335c1f-bcc1-4825-927f-e075dcf2e5bb/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/88335c1f-bcc1-4825-927f-e075dcf2e5bb/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/logo"}
