The bentwood back is tenoned through the seat with rectangular tenons and pinned at the back corners of the seat. There is evidence of glue on the underside of the seat where the bentwood back is tenoned through the seat. The front-facing surface of the bentwood back is decorated with double bead molding. Of the five spindles that compose the chair?ÇÖs back, only the three central spindles are tenoned through the top of the chair back. The saddle-shaped seat is composed of one board. Lines are inscribed in the seat outlining the area where the spindles meet the seat; the inscribed line that outlines the front of the spindles more shallow than the line that outlines the back of the spindles. A repair has been made to the portion of the seat directly behind the central spindle. The seat rests on four splayed, vase and ring turned legs. The legs have been cut down. The chair has an H-stretcher with turned stretchers that swell at the center. Museum records state that the chair was originally painted red.
