The chest holds five drawers, two horizontally aligned at the top and three below. The top of the case is molded around the edges and overhangs the case just slightly. The case front holding the top drawers is molded around the edges. The lower set of drawers is recessed and flanked with columns that support the overhanging upper section. All six drawer fronts are outlined with beading and veneered with a central, rectangular field of figured mahogany surrounded by bands of figured mahogany arranged so the figure forms a herringbone pattern around the drawers. Each drawer has a keyhole flanked by drop pulls fixed in the mouths of lion face escutcheons. The lower set of drawers has a slight bow. The flanking columns are intricately carved. The capitals beneath the volutes at the top of the columns are carved with acanthus leaf decoration. The shafts are reeded and taper slightly to claw terminals.
