When fully open, the table top is square with notched corners and a flattened convex curve at the left and right sides. Originally, lower leaf would have rotated on a wooden pin set into a rail in the table frame, but this mechanism is missing and the entire table top can be lifted off the frame. The rotating leaf and the swing leaf are each made from one board and are joined with knuckle hinges. The front and side edges of the rotating leaf have bead molding at the top and cove molding at the bottom. The front and side edges of the swing leaf are inlaid with two parallel lines of brass stringing.    The table frame is built with notched corners and a flattened convex curve the front to mimic the shape of the table top when closed. The curves on the front of the frame are each constructed from three pieces of wood. Exterior surfaces of the frame front and sides are veneered with figured mahogany. Dark wood stringing, possibly ebony, divides the curved portion of the frame front into one large rectangular field flanked by two smaller rectangular fields. The frame sides and the front-facing notched corners are also outlined in dark wood stringing. Convex, carved or turned circles are applied to the centers of the front-facing notched corners.    The mahogany-veneered pedestal is in the shape of a lyre. The front-facing section has inlaid brass ?Ç£strings?Ç¥ and four carved scrolls in the corners, creating the outer edges of the lyre shape. The rear-facing lyre has the same overall profile, but has no inlaid brass or scroll carving. The pedestal is screwed into the top along the back edge. The lyres are mortise and tenoned into rectangular blocks at the top and the base. The pedestal base has chamfered corners, allowing the legs to flare outward, and is veneered with figured mahogany and inlaid with dark wood stringing.    The four squared cabriole legs are attached to the pedestal base with screws and brackets applied from the underside of the legs. The legs are veneered with figured mahogany. The top surfaces of all legs and the front surfaces of the front legs are inlaid with dark wood, possibly ebony, that tapers to a point near the foot.
