Surmounting the arched hood is a fretwork gallery with ball-and-spire brass finials mounted to plinths at the center and front corners of the hood. The hood has quarter-round molding and a conforming glass door. The left side of the door has a locking mechanism with a shaped escutcheon and a keyhole. Flanking the hood are free-standing columns. Opening the door reveals the white enameled dial, which has Roman and Arabic numerals and decorative hour and minute hands. Within the chapter ring is a seconds dial. Winding holes flank a calendar aperture. The dial is inscribed: [WARRANTED BY / Wm CUMMENS.]. In the lunette is a painted rural scene with a female figure within an oval frame and in the spandrels are painted flowers. Cove molding outlines the front and side edges of the trunk where it meets the hood and the base. Engaged, fluted quarter columns with brass capitals and mounts flank three-quarters of the trunk door. The rectangular door is outlined in band inlay and has decorative molding around the edges. The left side of the door has a locking mechanism with a shaped escutcheon and a keyhole. The front of the base is outlined in band inlay. The bottom edge of the base has a shaped apron. The clock sits on French feet."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"10/17/2018"},{"label":"Marks, Signatures, and Inscriptions","value":"Inscribed on dial: [WARRANTED BY / Wm CUMMENS.]"},{"label":"Materials","value":"Mahogany; Brass; Paint; Glass; Enamel"},{"label":"Style","value":["Federal"]},{"label":"Basis of Date","value":"Date range provided by John S.
