The hood is constructed of three boards with a flat top and slanted sides. The boards are nailed to the top of the headboard and the cradle sides and the joints between the three boards are glued and covered with burlap strips on the interior. An arched skirt is nailed to the front of the hood and reinforced with glue blocks on the interior. The cradle sides are each constructed of one board with a concave profile below the hood sloping down to a straight horizontal profile along the length of the cradle to the footboard. The arched footboard is attached to the sides with half-blind dovetails visible on the footboard. The hexagonal headboard is nailed to the cradle sides and angled backwards from the bottom to the top where it meets the hood. The cradle bottom is composed of one pine board nailed to the underside of the headboard, footboard, and sides. Applied strips of bead molding are nailed to the exterior bottom edge of the footboard and both side boards. Two curved rockers with rounded tips are attached to the underside of the pine base board with screws and reinforced with glue blocks. Additional holes in the pine bottom indicate that the rockers were previously attached with more than two screws each. There is a long crack down the center of the pine base board and the rear rocker is lacking two of its glue blocks.
