In tandem with Ithiel Town beginning in 1829, he designed a remarkable number of buildings, public structures (hospitals, school buildings, churches, museums, state capitols) and private dwellings alike. Davis embarked on a solo career in 1843, continuing in practice alone for more than 30 years.
