The throat has a trapezoidal reverse-painted panel set in a frame outlined with two rows of crossbanded string inlay. The panel is painted with a light colored outer border, an inner border, and central small floral motif. The door is inscribed: [S. WILLARD's PATENT]. Brass sidearms flank the throat.  The pendulum box door has a rectangular reverse-painted glass panel set in a frame outlined with two rows of crossbanded string inlay.
