The cupid's bow crest rail is ogee-arch with pointed and molded ears, carved to simulate backward curving continuous with the side stiles. The chair back has an interlaced, pierced and scrolled splat fitted into a shoe. The front legs are molded on pad feet; the back legs are stump and chamfered. Molded stretchers brace the legs: two side and one medial forming an box shape and one rear mounted higher than the others. The side knee bracket is a replacement. The back seat rail is mahogany veneer on maple and other seat rails are maple. The diagonal braces for the seat frame and the rear seat rail are maple. As of 1982, according to the Longfellow National Historic Site, replaced but old corner blocks. Condition is good, with signs of normal wear, including a two-inch split on back splat.
