The left stretcher is made from a soft maple group and the crest rail and left spindle are made from ash. The crest is serpentine curved with volute carvings at either end. Between the two bamboo-turned stiles are nine bamboo-turned spindles. The shield-shaped, saddled seat, constructed out of white pine, is grooved around the back, with a slight center pommel. The legs, tenoned into the seat, are splayed and bamboo-turned, tapered at the feet. The stretchers form an H-shape. The side stretchers are centrally swelled and grooved. The medial stretcher is bamboo-turned, tapered at the ends. The underside of the seat at a right angle to the front edge is stamped: [S.J. TUCKE].
