Spencer did not yield any helpful information in uncovering whether the maker's label indicates a Lord S. Spencer or Lord & Spencer. The dates attributed by DAPC staff in 1974 could not be verified either. There is no listing for a Lord S. Spencer in the 1820-1840 Boston directories, in fact the only Lord or Spencer cabinetmaker listed in the 1820-1840 Boston Directories is Caleb Lord with a house on 42 Warren, and there is no way to prove definitively whether Caleb is the maker of this table. There are several Lords active during the late seventeenth century through the early eighteenth century around New England listed in The Cabinetmakers of America, but again, it cannot be determined with confidence which (if any) is the Lord in question. In the late eighteenth century and early nineteenth century, a produce firm working under the name Lord & Spencer is listed in the Boston Directories, but again, a connection cannot be verified."},{"label":"Subjects (AAT)","value":["Card tables"]},{"label":"Subjects","value":["Card tables"]},{"label":"Bibliography","value":"Auction catalog: \"Antique Auction in Two Evening Sessions,\" Robert W.
