Shurcliff taught carpentry classes and ran the shop at Ellis Memorial, a Boston settlement house. The shop sold similar organizers made by Ellis Memorial students. Shurcliff or one of her students may have made the organizer. With Theodora B. Jones and Charlotte L. The organizer has one central shelf terminating in an integral half-round molding. Below it are three adjacent drawers and above it are nine vertical pigeonholes arranged in two rows: one with six compartments and one with three. The short dividers between compartments are cyma curved at the top edges. Each divider is secured with two nails. The sides of the organizer are cyma curved along the top edges and appear to be set into grooves in the bottom board. They are also nailed to the back and bottom boards, which extend beyond the sides. The horizontal back board is also set into a groove in the bottom board and secured with nails from the bottom. The bottom board has overhanging edges on all sides terminating in integral beveled molding. The entire object is washed with a dark red brown.    The three lower drawers are faced with solid wood. Their sides are full height and secured with nails at the front and back. The drawer bottoms are single boards with grain running from side to side and chamfering at all edges where they are let into grooves. The drawers rest on the bottom board of the desk organizer, and the wash has worn away where the long drawer sides run across the bottom. The vertical dividers between the drawers are strips nailed at the top and bottom.
