(30.5 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Three-tier circular mahogany muffin stand with inlaid shelves and frame. The shelves are aligned vertically and graduated from top to bottom. Three stiles, spaced equally across half the circumference of the stand, curve outward from a carved ball at the center top to create a frame. Although the joinery is not visible, the stiles are likely tenoned into the ball, which is accented with small carved mahogany knobs on top and bottom. The right stile is broken along the top curve and was once repaired with a nail (now separated).  The shelves have a half-round profile on the edges and a light wood inlay circling the outer half-round profile. The horizontal plane of each shelf has similar band of light wood inlay around the circumference, approximately one inch from the edge on each tier. The shelves are each made from a solid mahogany board. The underside of each shelf (including bottom, although obscured by label) has a circular patch or repair of undetermined origin. There are no corresponding marks on the top sides. The shelves are grooved for legs, attached to stiles or legs with pegs, and glued for support. The legs taper from top to bottom, flare slightly outwards, have square sides and thin, light inlay on the outer edges.
