The upper case has a molded broken scroll pediment with urn and corkscrew flame finials at the center front and front corners above arched panel doors. The case interior has two rows of nine pigeonholes each over nine tall document slots and three drawers. A single candlestand slides out from the center bottom of the bookcase. The lower case has a fall lid that opens up into a flat surface on which to write. The desk interior has a central prospect unit with a prospect door with inset, blocked shell carving flanked by two document drawers with applied flame and urn carvings. The left and right sides of the desk interior are each fitted with a stack of three narrow drawers carved with the same shell and blocking as the prospect door. Between these drawers and the prospect unit are two pigeonholes with serpentine valances over wide, blocked drawers. Below the desk surface, the case has four graduated drawers. The uppermost drawer is flanked by lopers, each of which has a single knob. The lid and drawers each have a shaped escutcheon; the drawers each have two bail pulls with back plates of the same design as the escutcheons.
