The hood has a cove molded arched pediment with a pagoda top and a central gilded ball finial flanked by ball-and-spire finials mounted to plinths. On the tympanum is an inlaid patera. At the corners of the hood are free carved colonnettes and at the front corners of the dial case are three-quarter round colonnettes. Behind a glazed door with an arched opening and a keyhole is a cast brass dial in rococo decoration in the spandrels and lunette with a strike-silent mechanism, a seconds dial, a calendar aperture, and winding holes. The dial denotes time via Roman numerals and Arabic numerals with hour and minute hands. Inscribed on the clock face is: [John Roulston, Boston].  Cove molding decorates the top of the waist. The case is fixed with a depressed case door with an arched top and applied ovolo molding around the edges. The bottom of the trunk has cove molding. The molded base supports bracket feet. There is a shaped scallop at the center of the baseboard.  As of 1970, according to Curt C.
