As William C. Ketchum, Jr. pointed out in American Cabinetmakers, pg. 171-2, there was a slant-front desk sold at auction by Sotheby's in 1986 that was also labeled by Homer, and there is nothing more to suggest that he was owner rather than maker. See Maine Antiques Digest (February 1985) to read the article arguing that Andrew Homer was not a maker and objects with labels bearing his name are fake. According to Bjerkoe, The Cabinetmakers of America, pg. 128, there is a Pembroke table labeled by Homer at the Henry Ford Museum, but it is unclear whether this is the same table. According to Bondome (1930), the block at the joining of the crossed stretchers is evidently a reminiscence of an earlier practice which treated this junction point as a kind of pedestal for a carved urn or other decorative feature."},{"label":"Subjects (AAT)","value":["Pembroke tables","Dropleaf tables"]},{"label":"Subjects","value":["Tables"]},{"label":"Bibliography","value":"Bondome [Homer Eaton Keyes], \"Shop Talk,\" Antiques 17, no. 5 (May 1930): 448.
