The primary wood is maple that has been stained a mahogany color.    Hood:  The hood top has an arched pediment and rectangular plinths with brass urn and spire finials at the front corners. The sides and front of the hood top have applied moldings built from an ogee surmounting a cove, with a smaller ogee below. The glass-paneled hood door is arched with a bead molding surrounding the glass and a simple brass knob. The hood sides have free standing Doric support columns at the front and affixed quarter round columns at the back. The side lights have a rounded arch to match the clock face. The hood door has a raised cyma curved, Gothic arch panel surrounded by a bead molding. The door has a lock with a pressed brass escutcheon and is attached with a combined strap and but hinge. Screws have been added to the back to secure the clock to the wall behind. Glue blocks inside the case between the sides and back reinforce the joinery. The molding between the base of the hood and the top of the trunk includes a half round, an ogee, a plain freeze, a broad cove, and an ogee.    Trunk:  The top corners of the trunk door are cut with ogee curves that meet in a pointed arch at the center of the door. The trunk door has a brass keyhole surround. The molding between the trunk and base includes a reverse ogee, a half round, and a large cove and a half round.    Base:  Ogee bracket feet are surmounted by a cove molding and are integral to the base molding.    Movement and dial:  The movement contains brass and other metals and includes a striking mechanism. The dial is brass with an arched shape, and hour and minute hands. The hour and minute hands are different designs. There are two winding holes. Two square openings show the day of the month and the month as a number. There is also a third hole with a brass plate behind that shows signs of printing; although the imagery is indecipherable it likely showed the phases of the moon. The chapter dial includes Roman and Arabic numerals. Pierced brass work in the spandrels includes arches, flowers, urns, and eagles. The center of the dial is stippled. The arched section at the top of the clock face has a painted scene of a seascape with a lighthouse, and a fortress with red flag. A ship with red flags is painted on tin and inserted into the seascape with a pin.
