Upper case: The case top is made out of one board which is attached with hidden dovetails, but saw marks are visible. Cove molding edged with cock-beading is nailed to the front and side edges of the case top. A pediment is set above the molding along the front edge of the top. A large rectangular block with cock-beading around the top edges is centered along the front edge; two smaller rectangular blocks with similar cock-beading are set at the front corners. The blocks are connected by flat boards with cyma-curved upper edges.  The case sides are made of one board with squared front corners. The case back is made of two vertical butt jointed boards attached with nails. There is no case bottom. Quarter-round molding is applied to the front and side lower edges of the case.  The two shelves are fixed and slide into grooves in the case sides. The bookcase has two doors made of solid wood and panel-framed with an applied bead molding. There is a double bead on the front and a flat bead molding on the back. Glass in the doors has mullions applied to form diamond shapes. A latch has been added to the interior side of the left door; the corresponding catch is attached to the top of the lower fixed shelf.  Lower case: The chest of drawers has four drawers of equal height with vertical veneers and applied bead molding. There is a half-round molding around the front and sides at the top of the case. The drawers are constructed with dovetails at the fronts and backs. The drawer sides are full height and the drawer backs are planed. The drawer bottoms are one board with side to side grain and chamfering at the fronts and sides where they are let into grooves. The drawer bottom is nailed to the drawer back. The drawers rest on runners, some of which are original and others which have been replaced. The runners are nailed in place. The top front rail and dividers are mortise and tenoned into the case sides. There is a partial dust board at the front and a partial dust board at the back for the bottom drawer. The keyhole surrounds on the drawers are original, but the locks have been removed and some of them filled in. The drawer knobs are replacements. The skirt on the front and sides is cyma curved.
