The rectangular back has an arched crest rail and squared shoulders. The rear stiles are continuous with the back legs. The rear stiles, crest rail, and back rail are all carved with cove molding. Four vertical carved slats are inserted between the crest rail and a plain, rectangular slat at the base of the back. The vertical slats flare to triangular shapes carved with papyrus designs at the top; have small rectangular tablets containing carved flowers at the center; and flare to small rectangular bases at the bottom. The trapezoidal seat has its original horsehair over-the-rail upholstery. The seat frame cannot be examined due to the upholstery. The front therm legs are carved with decorative moldings and the back stump legs are canted back.
