The chair back is rectangular with a curved yoke-back crest rail and curved shoulders. There are bead moldings on the front-facing edges of the shoulders. The upper line of molding dips down to meet the bottom line of molding at the joint between the crest rail and splat. The rear stiles are continuous with the back legs and composed of a single piece of wood. There are bead moldings on the front-facing edges of the stiles above the seat continuous with those on the crest rail. There is damage at the joints of the crest rail and stiles, both are repaired with nails. Between the stiles, a vasiform splat is tenoned into the center of the crest rail and lower back rail. The edges of the splat are beveled toward the back, and there is a small crack visible at the center bottom of the splat. The front surface of the rectangular lower rail has decorative moldings. The trapezoidal seat frames a rush sitting surface, which is likely early if not original. The construction method is obscured by the rushes, but the seat rails are most likely attached to one another with mortise and tenon joints. Metal brackets have been screwed into the undersides of the seat rails and fronts of the stiles to reinforce the joints. The front corners of the front seat rail are exposed, and the front right corner has a small saw cut across the right top edge. The chair has baluster turned front legs and Marlborough rear legs with a slight backward bend. The front legs are attached with round tenons to the exposed frame corners. The rear legs are also likely attached with mortise and tenons, and they are reinforced with metal brackets. The back right leg has been broken a the level of the rear stretcher and repaired with screws. The chair has four stretchers framing the legs. The front stretcher is turned with balls flanking a central ring. The side and rear stretchers are rectangular, flush with the outer edges of the legs, and attached with pinned mortise and tenon joints. The side stretcher joints to the legs are reinforced with screws and nails. The front feet are Spanish feet and the rear feet are raked back with bevels on the front-facing surface and chamfering on the front facing edges. All feet are integral.
