It sits on a separate bracket component. The clock is surmounted by a sarcophagus top and an acorn-shaped finial. Below quarter-round molding of the pediment is rope stringing and shallow cove molding. Above the case door is additional decorative banding. The door has a double-string inlay and veneer frame with dark and light wood marquetry for depth in the corners. Patterned brackets, concave at top, rounded at the bottom, fan out from either side. Along the bottom of the door is banding in dentil and sawtooth patterns of alternating dark and light wood. Around the base is more molding with lightwood banding. The feet are French bracket.  The companion bracket shelf allows for the shelf clock to be fixed to a wall. It has checkered banding around the top, followed by stringing in a chevron pattern with veneer, and below is more inlay in a bead pattern. The bracket tapers inward. Lightwood inlay in a series of three shapes originates from the very bottom of the bracket. The bracket terminates in a ball-shaped drop finial."},{"label":"Date Digitized","value":"1/19/2019"},{"label":"Materials","value":"Mahogany; Holly; Ivory; Brass"},{"label":"Style","value":["Federal"]},{"label":"Basis of Date","value":"Date range provided by Saint Louis Art Museum."},{"label":"Date (EDTF)","value":"D:00 M:00 Y:1790 - D:00 M:00 Y:1800"},{"label":"Basis of Origin","value":"Poignand was active in Boston."},{"label":"Place of Origin","value":"Boston, Massachusetts; Roxbury, Massachusetts"},{"label":"Basis of Maker Attribution","value":"Attribution based on documented family history."},{"label":"Maker","value":["Poignand, David, cabinetmaker, 1759-1830, active about 1787-1825"]},{"label":"Other Name","value":"Shelf clock; Bracket clock"},{"label":"Object Type","value":["Clock"]},{"label":"Object Use","value":"Household accessories"},{"label":"Category","value":"Furniture"},{"label":"Title","value":"Shelf clock"},{"label":"Date Modified","value":"1/19/2019"}],"description":"Shelf clock","sequences":[{"@type":"sc:Sequence","canvases":[{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/695ce8d2-b9bf-4ba6-95a6-4211abdd7292/canvas/_1","@type":"sc:Canvas","label":"Shelf clock","height":1500,"width":866,"images":[{"@type":"oa:Annotation","motivation":"sc:painting","resource":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/695ce8d2-b9bf-4ba6-95a6-4211abdd7292/full/full/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","format":"image/jpeg","service":{"@context":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/context.json","@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/695ce8d2-b9bf-4ba6-95a6-4211abdd7292","profile":"http://iiif.io/api/image/2/level2.json","tiles":[{"width":512,"scaleFactors":[1,2,4]}]},"height":1500,"width":866},"on":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/695ce8d2-b9bf-4ba6-95a6-4211abdd7292/canvas/_1","metadata":[]}],"thumbnail":{"@id":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/695ce8d2-b9bf-4ba6-95a6-4211abdd7292/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","@type":"dctypes:Image","height":500,"width":500}}]}],"thumbnail":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/695ce8d2-b9bf-4ba6-95a6-4211abdd7292/full/500,500/0/default.jpg","logo":"https://iiif.quartexcollections.com/winterthur/iiif/logo"}
