The rectangular case top, made of black marble, is not attached to the case. It rests on two-paneled wood frame with hollow overhang. The case sides are each composed of a single board with squared front edges. The case back is panel-framed with two large, side-by-side panels with vertical grain. Screws and nails attach the components of the case back. The case front has a single, full-width drawer just beneath the case top. The drawer sides and back are full height. The drawer front extends below the drawer bottom. It is made of mahogany with figured mahogany veneer. The drawer sides are dovetailed to the drawer front and drawer back. The drawer bottom is chamfered along the front and sides and let into grooves in the drawer sides and front. The underside of the drawer bottom is reinforced with glue blocks along the front and sides. The grain of the drawer bottom runs side to side. The inner surfaces of the drawer are lined with green baize. The drawer front has no hardware; instead the lower rail that supports the drawer has two hand-holds cut into the front lower edge.  Below the drawer, the cupboard has two engaged half columns flanking two paneled doors. The columns have plain shafts with three double bands at the top. The doors are constructed with recessed panels, outlined with applied shell and scroll molding. The doors are veneered in flame mahogany. Molding on the right door is damaged at the top left. The right door is fitted with a lock. The doors open to reveal a single full-width shelf. The shelf and the top of the case bottom are covered in green baize. The bottom edges of the case follow the profile of the case front.
