(200.7 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Many of the construction and design details on this Rococo Revival-style sofa are obscured or not visible due to its upholstery. The sofa sits approximately three to four individuals. The sofa back is straight and angled slightly backwards. The seat is rectangular and its construction is obscured by upholstery and a dust cover that runs the length of the sofa. The arms are square with a curved support, possibly made from one board. The support is not continuous with the front leg, but its attachment and construction is obscured by upholstery. The arms feature an applied carved handhold shaped like a tiger with heavy embellishing and framed by a protruding scroll and additional carved design elements. The sides of the arm support have a carved molding profile of a half round to a shallow cove. The handhold and arm support are covered in a heavy varnish or paint. The two front legs are slightly ogee shaped with an emphasized protruding carved scroll and knee brackets. The rear legs are a slightly concave and block shaped. All four feet have wooden black castors screwed on with brass plates. Their attachment to the seat rail is obscured by upholstery.  The upholstery is a woven textile featuring a red and orange floral brocade on the front and a plain woven red fabric on the back. The upholstery is tufted at the front of the sofa and smooth along the back. Textile covered buttons are used to secure the tufts. The bottom edge of the sofa front, sides, and back have a nailed on decorative tape and matching fringe.
