The bentwood back is tenoned through the seat and has cove-molded front edges. The seat back consists of nine bamboo-turned spindles which are tenoned into the seat. There is a line of shallow cove molding outlining the area where the spindles attach to the seat on the back top surface. The saddle seat is composed of one board. The chair is supported by four bamboo-turned legs which are tenoned through the seat and secured with wedges through the tenons. The legs are connected by bamboo-turned H-form stretchers. The chair is painted overall with a black treatment; there are some traces of yellow paint in the rings of the bamboo turning and around the top edge of the seat. The yellow paint is mostly worn away on the seat and there is some paint loss on the bottoms of the front legs.
