(86 cm), Depth 31.25 in. (79.4 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"Chippendale-style mahogany easy chair which has been converted into an invalids' chair with the addition of wheels. The tapered trapezoidal back has a yoke-shaped upper edge and serpentine lobed wings that slope downward from square shoulders. The wings join arms with outward scrolled top edges above straight vertical supports. The trapezoidal seat is framed by four rails which are mortise and tenoned into the legs. The therm-shaped front legs have light wood string inlay outlining the front surface while the rear legs are stump-form and unadorned. The legs are joined by H-form stretchers with rounded top edges and flat-sawn sides. The side stretchers are mortise and tenoned into the legs and the center stretcher is mortise and tenoned into the side stretchers. The left stretcher has a metal brace covering the exterior face and top and bottom edges which is attached with screws. There is also a screw through the outside of the right stretcher securing it to the center stretcher. The entire chair frame is covered in upholstery and the interior surfaces are padded with horsehair. The majority of the upholstered surface is covered with a beige muslin textile that is heavily worn and stained and may be original. There are also many non-matching textile patches covering holes in the muslin. All four legs have been fitted with metal brackets with extended arms terminating in large wooden castors. The brackets and castors lift the chair's legs slightly off the ground and provide mobility for a user with physical impairments. The brackets are attached with screws to the outer surfaces of the legs and the rear legs have wooden wedges inserted in notches cut in the rear surfaces to ensure a tight fit. Horizontal metal rods span the space between the front legs and the rear legs, extending through the legs and attaching with nuts on the exterior surfaces."},{"label":"Date
