(172.7 cm)"},{"label":"Description","value":"William and Mary, black walnut, drop-leaf table. The table top is circular in shape when fully open. Pit-sawing marks are visible on the underside of the table top. The central fixed section of the table top is composed of two boards, and secured into place using wooden pins and nails. Iron butterfly hinges attach demi-lune shaped leaves on either side of the central fixed board. One of the demi-lune shaped leaves is fully detached from the piece. The edges of the table top have quarter-round molding. The table top shows extensive wear. The rectangular table frame is joined with pinned mortise and tenons. The frame is attached to the table top with wooden pins and nails. There is evidence of a previous powder post beetle infestation on the inside of the frame. The frame was once fitted with a drawer, now missing.    The table has four fixed legs and two gate legs, all turned with square sections. The fixed legs are mortised, tenoned, and pinned to the table frame. The gate legs are attached to the lower stretchers and the frame with dowels. The stretchers on the upper sections of the gate legs are rectangular. All other stretchers are turned with square sections.
